Tech Level 2 builds on the code and maintenance fundamentals of Tech 1 with advanced, hands-on diagnostics and troubleshooting. Learners work through real field faults (ground faults, communication dropouts, and tracker faults), go
deep on test equipment including the megger and IV curve tracer, and build advanced inverter service and troubleshooting skills.
The course also covers:
- Energy storage and hybrid inverters for residential and commercial systems
- Data acquisition (DAS), monitoring, and networking.
This course is preapproved by NABCEP as an associate exam course and qualifies for the education pathway for the NABCEP Operations & Maintenance Associate Technician (OMAT) Credential. For more information on NABCEP's Associate Credentials, please review their Associate Handbook.

ONLINE COURSE CANCELLATION:
Anyone wishing to cancel a course registration should email courses@midwestrenew.org or call the MREA at 715-592-6595.
Canceling an online course registration: If a registrant cancels an online course registration within one week, no fees apply and full course tuition will be refunded. If a cancellation is requested after one week of registration, the registrant forfeits a $25 processing fee, and the remaining course tuition will be refunded.
Failure to complete a course: If a registrant does not complete an online course by the assigned due date, the registrant forfeits the entire course fee. Extensions are available for PV Associate Core Courses and Advanced PV Courses only.
- Once registered for online course(s), students must begin the coursework within 30 days to retain access. If students do not start the course within 30 days, they will forfeit the registration fee.
- Once courses are completed your access will expire within 30 days. Download any course materials and completion certificate before your access expires.
- Assignments submitted outside of regular business hours may not be graded until the start of the next business day.
- MREA Business Hours: Monday-Friday 9 AM to 5 PM (no holidays/weekends)
